Everynet supports major smart water meter deployment by SABESP and LAAGER in Brazil

18th January 2021, São Paulo – SABESP – Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo (http://www.sabesp.com.br/), the largest sanitation company in the Americas and the fourth largest in the world in terms of population served, issued in 2019 its first major BID requesting 100,000 smart meters for smart water in Brazil. The SABESP Project was an important milestone for the Brazilian sanitation market, as it set the standards for all the future BIDs. The consortium formed by Vita Ambiental Engineering Services (www.vitaambientalengenharia.com.br) and Laager – Sustainable Technologies (http://www.laager.com.br/) won the BID and has been in charge of its implementation since then.

Being a partner of the Everynet Global Ecosystem, Laager chose LPWAN Technologies to address the implementation, including LoRaWAN for its IoT Module, using the American Tower LoRaWAN network. The technology has increased water management efficiency while reducing non-revenue water and waste in the biggest and most important economic center of Latin America. According to Daniel Laper, director of New Business and IoT at American Tower, this partnership highlights the company’s compromise to offering hi-tech solutions in Brazil. “We see great potential in the Brazilian market where we are developers of sustainable projects and social innovation which return as a benefit to the population. Besides we offer IoT connectivity solutions all over the country in order to support new businesses”, says Laper.

“Since the beginning, Laager and Everynet have been working together on a transparent and collaborative way to develop the best solution for the water sanitation market,” states Felipe Duque Estrada, Laager CEO and Founder. “Everynet expertise on LoRaWAN technology, paired with their ready-to-market approach, was key to accelerate the development cycle of our collaboration for a LoRaWAN solution”.

Gustavo Zarife, Everynet Brasil Country Manager, explains that the “Everynet approach is based on a deep and collaborative relationship with solution providers. We stand side by side as partners in each step of the implementation, from the project definition to the post go-live activities. This allows us to support the companies that are developing the market and are experts in each segment.”

After one year of deployment, SABESP IoT Manager Ricardo Batista is impressed by the positive results registered. “The IoT Project is part of SABESP digital transformation strategy. Now customers can manage their consumption through the Sabesp Mobile App. Using IoT, Sabesp can alert customers on the existence of possible internal leaks, can discover potential fraud, and offer our clients a better and more efficient service. For the upcoming years, we expect to accelerate IoT adoption” He explains.
